I recently went on a trip to Brownsville, Or ,which is only about 1.5 hours from Portland, and had a great time. It is a easily missed little main street town where they filmed some of "Stand By Me". It is very small and quiet and definitely a fun stop for a couple of hours. The have the most peculiar little museum there and the historical Moyer house to tour. We finished off the day with a great meal at a little shabby chic diner called the Corner Cafe. How Lovely! They have a few annual events as well like the Stand By Me Sock Hop and a small antique fair. I reccommend it for an afternoon of the simple life!
